Volvo brings the new Pedestrian Safety System

Volvo brings the new Automatic Braking Technology in the market in its upcoming models. This improved intelligent system will certainly reduce the on road accidents. Previously, the safety system was for vehicle-vehicle collision but now this system makes the human life even safer than it previously was. Automatic Braking System detects the pedestrians in front of car and the full brakes are applied if the car’s speed is below 24km/h. At greater speeds, the impact speed is reduced and this intelligent system tries its best to minimize the collision impact. The reduction in collision impact can save many precious lives. The fatality risk can be reduced upto 80 percent as claimed by Thomas Broberg, safety expert at Volvo cars.

How the Automatic Braking System works?
This is a very general question that how this system works in harmony with the driver? In an emergency case, the audible sound is heard to make the driver alert along with the emergency signal light in the head up display. If the driver does not responds and the accident seems to be certain, then full brakes are applied automatically and hence the accident can be completely avoided for speeds less than 24 km/h.

State-of-the-art technology opens the new world of AI
This new artificial intelligent system is composed of a dual mode radar unit which is installed in the car’s grill, a high resolution camera at the back of the rear view mirror and CCU (Central Control Unit). Radar detects the onroad objects and their distance from the car where as the camera detects the type of the object and the pedestrians moving patterns. This system deserves appreciation especially for monitering the pedestrians early who are about to step on road.
Thanks to Volvo who bring this advanced system in their vehicles and ensure the safety of the pedestrians.
