Mazda is going to deput its new eco friendly next generation Mazda Kiyora Concept in the coming Tokyo Motor Show this year. The new Kiyora is aerodynamically engineered (seems to be like an aerofoil) keeping in view a better power to weight ratio. The car is 100 kg less in weight as compared to other Mazda models of the same category. The front lights and the air intakes are shaped in a similar fashion. The new concept car has the tremendous fuel consumption of 75 mpg, so you can drive it on long routes without caring much about refilling. The tail lights look like boomerangs.
This 3-door concept is powered by 1.3 L direct injection engine with some promising features like i-stop, the idle start/ stop feature, regenerative braking and six speed light weight automatic transmission.
Mazda i-stop idling system has improved the fuel economy by 10 percent. The Mazda i-stop controls the position of the piston when the engine is shutdown and brings the engine back to idling speed in just 0.35 secs when engine starts again. Mazda claims to improve the fuel economy of its vehicles by 2015.
