GM starts the production of new Opel Ampera from 2011

GM has released the new Opel Ampera in the 79th Geneva Motor Show this year with the stylish exterior and an upgraded interior. Though the car was released a couple of months ago but many people may not have seen it before. The company intends to start its production by 2011.

Owing to the increased energy demands, this car has plug-in hybrid technology. The car has 40 mile plug-in range (it can be driven upto 40 miles without using a single drop of oil) and 300 mile total extended range. Lithium ion battery is used in the new Opel Ampera which makes it run upto 60 km. The car can go upto 500 miles via internal combustion engine that drives the generator which further runs the electric motor.

The head lights are beautifully designed giving it a unique front look. The new Opel Ampera is a four door passenger car with a hatch back. The car has got enough luggage capacity. The narrow tail LED lights are properly aligned giving a new Ampera a well composed look.

The new Ampera has two LCD screens, one just behind the steering and the other one above the button panel. What unique in this car is that the rear seats are completely separated like the front seats. Like the other plug-in cars, it can be charged from the sockets beside the side view mirrors.

It seems that if GM would like to recover from the sluggish economy they would work with the people who will support (Purchase) their products. The VOLT at $40,000.00 is so out of reach for the Average people (even w/ a Gov. rebate) who would be more apt to support their company. The Ampera to me looks more impressive with the darker interior and body style, and hopefully will NOT be over priced like the VOLT. The AMPERA hopefully will be able to be purchased by the AVERAGE people and support GM's production lines.I really don't want GM to go under. Progressive flow of money is more effective than the hits and misses, so keep the price within reason and the money flow will be more abundant for GM. But the Honda INSIGHT is another great option. Honda has great history and the INSIGHT is with in reach for the price.

economic recession has deeply affected GM sales but it has recovered upto some extent. what GM needs to do is to sale their cars which could be affordable by a common person, they need to limit their production line up (not to further expand their market) keeping in view the demand of their cars in the market till they get stabilized.
