McLaren reveals its MP4-12C supercar

McLaren, being the best formula one manufacturer, has revealed its new super car MP4-12C which will be seen in the market in early 2011. This car is going to make its deput in the Franfurt Motor Show. This is the first car which is completely fabricated, from design to engineering, by McLaren itself. Previously, McLaren has been manufacturing cars with the collaboration of other companies like BMW, and more recently, Mercedes Benz SLR.

The car is powered by the tremendous twin turbo charged engine of 600 bhp. It produces 440lbft of torque of which 80 percent is available at around 2000 rpm. Seven speed automatic twin clutch gear box is used in this super car. The company claims to produce thousand cars a year. The car is expected to cost between 125000 – 175000 pounds.

The use of carbon fiber has been extensively used in this car to keep it light. This is the first car in the high performance sports car category of McLaren automotive. The new McLaren is well engineered by giving it an aerodynamic shape and keeping a low ground clearance, so it is certainly going to give a tough time to its rivals during the race.

The exterior of the car is really attractive with the tailpipes positioned just below the back lights. The spoiler adds a real beauty to the car when viewed from rear end. It can be adjusted suitably depending upon the car’s speed and anti lift requirements. The doors are opened upward like the enzo Ferrari. The side view mirrors are projected a little outward than what we have seen in the traditional sports cars.
